Shipping and shipbuilding
SOMAS offers valves for use onboard both product and chemical tankers. Our valves are also used to control the exhaust flow during combustion inside large engines both in on- and off-shore applications.
Find out more about our cargo valves and engine valves below.
One important characteristic for valves in the shipping and shipbuilding industry is that the valves are as tight as possible to prevent the cargos contents from mixing. SOMAS triple excentric butterfly valve fits perfectly within pipelines used for on- or un-loading of cargo. The valve combines exceptional tightness with minimal wear on the shaft and valve seat.
Engine valves are used to control the exhaust-flow after combustion in large engines, both in on- and off-shore applications. Current requirements on fuel efficiency have increased the need for precise control and complete shutdown of flow. SOMAS butterfly valve with its unique shaft and flexible valve seat is perfect as an engine valve.
