SOMAS receive new record order - part of BillerudKorsnäs billion investment

SOMAS, based in Säffle, has signed a frame agreement on all Manual-, Control-, On/Off- and Check valves for the investment in a new board machine (KM7) at the Gruvön site. It is the largest order in SOMAS history from a "number of valves"-perspective and involves ongoing deliveries in one year with first delivery in autumn 2017.

"The order is very important for SOMAS. BillerudKorsnäs Gruvön is a customer that we have had very close corporation with and it feels good to continue this" says Peter Hägg, CEO of SOMAS. "It once again shows that our customers have a great confidence in our products and that we maintain the highest possible quality."

SOMAS design, manufacture and market control and on/off valves in stainless steel to customers worldwide. The valves are used in many areas one of them is the pulp and paper industry, an area in which SOMAS is very experienced. The family- owned company was founded in 1945 and its head quarter and production facility is located in Säffle with 160 employees. The production takes place in a top-modern factory, and 75% of the valves are exported. Peter Hägg continues: "The order is the largest ever for SOMAS when it comes to the number of valves and shows that our continuous efforts on product development, quality and efficient production equipment attract old and new customers to the Company.

BillerudKorsnäs makes an investment of SEK 5.7 billion at the Gruvön site. The investment is being made in a new board machine to meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions for food and drink around the world. The board machine will have an annual capacity of 550,000 tonnes of board, making it one of the largest in the world of its kind. Production in new KM7 is expected to start in the first quarter of 2019.
