SOMAS receive record order - part of SCA's billion investment

SOMAS, based in Säffle, has signed a frame agreement on all control and on/off valves for the extensive expansion of the Östrand pulp mill. It is the largest order in SOMAS history and covers approximately 1200 valves spread over two years with the first delivery in October 2016.

"The order is very important for SOMAS" says Peter Hägg, CEO of SOMAS. "It shows that customers have a great confidence in our products and our capacity to handle their advanced processes."

SOMAS design, manufacture and market control and on/off valves in stainless steel to customers worldwide. The valves are used in many areas one of them is the pulp and paper industry, an area in which SOMAS is very experienced. The family- owned company was founded in 1945 and its head quarter and production facilities is located in Säffle with 150 employees. The production takes place in a top-modern factory, and 75% of the valves are exported. Peter Hägg continues: "The order is the largest ever for SOMAS and shows that our continuous efforts in product quality and innovation attract both old and new customers.

SCA's new pulp mill in Timrå municipality is an investment of SEK 7,8 billion and will double its production capacity of bleached softwood kraft pulp. The extended mill will start the production during the second quarter of 2018. This is one of the largest industrial investments in Sweden ever.
